Growth Models for Even-Aged Stands of Hesperocyparis macrocarpa and Hesperocyparis lusitanica
نویسندگان
چکیده
The cypress species Hesperocyparis lusitanica (Mill.) Bartel and H. macrocarpa (Hartw.) (formerly known as Cupressus C. macrocarpa) are widely grown in New Zealand where they noted for their high-value timber. Preliminary growth models were developed 2004 based on limited data. Here, we describe new stand-level these two using measurements from 521 permanent sample plots. Each model consists of several component sub-models including a height/age model, diameter/age mortality function volume function, with different parameter estimates used each species. mean top height is predicted age site index common-asymptote Richards models. Modified Korf functions to predict the diameter age, stand density index. volume-based 300 Index, defined annual increment at 30 years reference regime stems ha−1, can be calculated directly function. These will considerable value forest managers evaluation yield prediction. By more robustly describing productivity provide an improved framework understanding quantifying productivity.

Infraspecific Variation in Hesperocyparis Abramsiana: Issrs and Terpenoid Data
Five Hesperocyparis (Cupressus) abramsiana groves were analyzed by Inter-Simple Sequence Repeats (ISSRs). ISSRs analyses revealed geographical differentiation among the groves (= Silba's subspecies) with the Butano Ridge grove being the most distinct in both ISSRs and terpenoids. Combined ISSR and terpenoid data support the recognition of Hesperocyparis. abramsiana var. abramsiana and Hesperocy...
متن کاملAttributes of Successionally Stable Even-aged Oak Stands
INTRODUCTION Oak-dominated forests of the Central and Eastern United States have generally not been regarded as suited to uneven-aged silviculture (Roach and Gingrich 1968, Sander and Clark 1971). In fact, several attempts to apply the selection method of reproduction cutting in oak-dominated stands have resulted in compositional shifts toward more shade tolerant species (Trimble 1970). Given t...

Hesperocyparis (Cupressus) goveniana and putative Cupressus goveniana subsp. gibsonensis plus H. pygmaea were analyzed by Inter-Simple Sequence Repeats (ISSRs). The ISSRs analyses support the continued recognition H. pygmaea and H. goveniana, but the recognition of Cupressus goveniana subsp. gibsonensis Silba was not supported. متن کاملA New Genus, Hesperocyparis, for the Cypresses of the Western Hemisphere (cupressaceae)
Phylogenetic comparisons of three nuclear DNA gene regions (nrDNA(ITS), 4-coumarate: CoA ligase, abscisic acid-insensitive 3) and a chloroplast region (petN-psbM) show that the Western Hemisphere cypresses (Hesperocyparis) is a well-supported clade quite separated from the Eastern Hemisphere cypresses (Cupressus). Based on these new data and previous data, a new genus, Hesperocyparis, is erecte...
متن کاملComparison of Log Quality from Even-Aged and Uneven-Aged Loblolly Pine Stands in South Arkansas
Log grade, number of knots, and log volume of the first two logs, as well as form class of the butt log, were compared across three broad sawtimber categories among even-aged plantations, even-aged natural stands, and uneven-aged natural stayMs of loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) in Ashley County, AR. Trees from unevenaged stands had butt logs of better log grade than even-aged plantations, parti...
